Oversized pieces of clothing have been spotted on both men and women’s runways for a few seasons now. From coats to pants, the whole closet seems to be concerned.
It’s high time to embrace the path and go extra large !
I used to believe that large cuts were reserved for big silouhettes. I used to think that they were designed to compliment the curviest bodies and that slimer people like me would just get lost in them.
I knew it was a thing in the early 90s but to be honest, I found it quite old fashioned and I never thought it would go back in style. Obviously, I was wrong.
Fashion tends to repeat itself but slightly adapts every time it does.
This time, it goes extra :
A classic straight cut is not enough anymore. The pants’ legs are longer and wider.
The blazer is so large that your girlfriend coud borrow it to wear it as a mini dress for her next girls night out.
The winter coat is loose with low shoulder cuts and wraps us up nice and warm like a huge blanket.
My oversized look consists of the following pieces :
- An oversized dark purple blazer that falls down the middle of my thighs, with gold buttons
- An oversized high waisted darted pants that I keep high and tight with a double loop belt
- A simple black t-shirt to balance with the gold accessories
A pair of tricoloured chunky sneakers
TIP1 : chunky sneakers are your best allies while wearing oversized pants. Their bigger format allows them to exist at the bottom of your look and simply brings some coolness to the whole thing.
TIP2 : don’t hestitate to look through your parent’s old stuff. You may find some XXL vintage gem in there.
At the end, I guess I patched things up with large cuts. And you ?
