Here is the fashion story of a modern prince coming straight from a 2.0 Versailles, a place where capes become bombers and where the crown belongs to everyone. Ready ? Let’s go(ld) !
Back in the 17th century, Versailles was considered as the European epicenter of high society, gathering royals and gentry under the same golden roof.
Spectacular balls and glamourous soirees were hosted and the royal etiquette required all attendees to dress accordingly.
Corsets and hoop dresses for the ladies. Ascot ties and tailcoats for the gentlemen.
Today I wonder : "What would these soirees look like noawadays ?", "What would a modern prince wear to attend such a fancy event ?"
I had an Epiphany and couldn’t help but materialized this outfit here:
- The long hair wig would be dropped to reveal a messy mid-length haircut
- The cape or ermine would be replaced by a fancy bomber that shines bright like the Glass Gallery itself
- The ascot tie would get lost in the after party, revealing a vintage DIOR tie holder on a plain white long-sleeve shirt
- The short cut pants and velvet mocassins would remain, but without the cheesy lacy high socks
- A statement sweater would come in handy to keep one’s warm during a midnight stroll in the garden
« What about the crown ? », you might ask.
Well, I believe it’s up to anyone to wear one !
I chose to be the king of my own fashion kingdom here. I chose to follow my guts and share my thoughts with you on this blog, hoping it can somehow provide you with an « eye » that I do no longer want to keep for myself.
Don’t you wait for a lucky charm in a King cake to feel like a king ! Stand tall, believe in yourself and chose your own fashion path.
