Heroes. Most of us think of them as flying avengers or white knights who wear masks and floating capes. But do they all, really?

Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman… We know them for their shiny costumes, their fancy cars or their magic accessories. But does a true hero need all that? What about those who don’t shoot for the stars and operate in the dark? If you ask me, I think those might be the most powerful of them all.

Chances are you have already met one (or more) of those along the way because at some point in one’s life, everyone needs to be rescued.

I met one of my mine a few years ago.

I was taking refuge at the very top of a tower, above all criticisms and judgments.

From my penthouse nest, the fashion bird that I was could look down to a city buzzing with ordinariness and boredom.

My 360view cage was becoming too small for my dreams and I was longing for new creative horizons.

One day she came.

Riding her galloping horse with her long floating hair in the wind.

Quiet, kind and discreet, she came into my life to free me from my chains, bring me joy and give the little push I needed to pursue my dreams.

Although I had the time to grow it long during that period of waiting, I couldn’t "let down my hair so that she may climb the golden stairs". So I used a more urban way to get to my hero and climb down the fire escape.

My emergency exit outfit looked as follows:

  • A sleeveless vest worn as a protective shield to face whatever weapons that would come our way

  • The golden chains (worn as a bracelet) she freed me from

  • A pair of chunky sneakers to run away with her

  • A pair of high waisted tailored pants to bring a little chic

  • A bob worn as the urban crown of this unusual fairytale

Then became our runaway journey together.

From that time on, she became my Bonnie and I was her Clyde.

We’ve lived happily ever after and kept enjoying the ride.

This short story goes down to all the heroes working in the shadows.

These very few ones who go to infinity and beyond and never expect any public recognition for their bravery.

You are a timeless fashion and a priceless accessory to any relationship.
