When my favorite 4 year-old friend invites me over for a fun afternoon during Easter Holiday, I rsvp in my very own fashion way. Boys and girls, let’s go play all together !
Wednesday is fun day ! At least, it used to be when I was a kid…
I would leave school at noon, heading to my grand-ma’s for our weekly family lunch. Sometimes my mom would allow me to invite a friend over for the afternoon and we would spend it playing board games, dressing up like our favorite cartoon characters, building up Lego houses or helping Ken moving in with Barbie (for the hundredth time).
I don’t know whether it’s the smell of the chocolate Easter eggs or the view of this tiny tiny kitchenette but, as I walk in my little friend’s magic kingdom, I immediately feel brought back to my childhood years and I wonder : could (grown-up) fashion be as eclectic as kids games can be ?
As long as we enjoy it, can we forget about society standards and blur the line between pink and blue?
Let the fashion game begin :
An oversized knitted jumper with cloud design to make all our dreams come true
A short cut chino pants in pink as an updated version of the one I was wearing on my 2nd grade school photo (upon request only)
A pair of white chunky sneakers that all the cool kids used to wear back then
A wool mix oversized jacket in oatmeal as a kinda fluffy layer to make me look like a pinky version of the Easter bunny
A short chunky neckchain in burnished gold tone to accessorize the look
TIP : The cloud design is a very fun print, most probably popularized after Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2020 menswear collection. Check it out here!
Look! The sun is dispersing the clouds on my sweater like an actual spring sunny spell would, revealing this look’s easter egg…
It's neither a boy, nor a girl...
It’s a bunny, of course !
An oversized Looney Tunes t-shirt with front and back print as a funny grand finale
Let’s keep on having some fashion fun while thumbing our nose at gender stereotypes.
Blue, Pink, cars and dolls, it doesn’t matter because at the end every Barbie needs a Ken (and vice versa).
> I would like to dedicate this post to some very important little girls who once shared their toys with me and turned out to be the best friends a little boy could wish for.
