Bricks & stones won't break my bones

Updated: Jan 30, 2021

The color palette and free spirit of the city got me inspired once again. Flashback on an outfit that would have been perfect for an afternoon out in West Side Manhattan.

That day in Liege actually felt different from the other days. It was a nice and sunny day of October and I was craving a slide of carrot cake from Magnolia Bakery. Although there was no such place here in Belgium, I decided to go for a walk anyway.

Walking down Campine street on that fall day somehow reminded me of a morning stroll in Chelsea, New York City. The orangy color tones of some beautiful mansions were similar to those I used to enjoy when walking from the Highline to the Village.

The landscape color palette went from grey to brown, including nice shades of orange just like the variation of buildings in Big Apple.

So I guess this post is about a city slicker outfit :

- A pair of high waisted large pants, made of a fluid fabric in a rusty color

- A statement oversized sweater, half tucked into the pants

- An oversized check coat, worn wide open for a casual look

- Addidas runners at my feet to walk around for hours

- A pair of round sunglasses with light brown frame to look even cooler

TIP : Embrace the nyc vibe and wear runners to run errands. Worst case scenario, you look like a sports addict.

As long as you stay away from the sweatpants, you’re good.

Long story short, it was great to enjoy an afternoon out in an appropriate attire.

I spent hours walking around the city behind my sunglasses and happened to have the best time on my own. I felt free and confident, just like good old times on Perry Street.

I swear at some point I thought Carrie Bradshaw would come out of one of these houses and join me.
